After years of anticipation, Spotify is finally rolling out lossless audio to Premium subscribers. This highly requested feature, which has been in the works for a while, marks a significant step forward for the world’s most popular music streaming service. Now, listeners can enjoy their favorite songs with a richer, more detailed sound experience, unlocking the full fidelity of the original recordings.
Good news for Premium users: lossless audio is a free upgrade! There’s no extra charge or a separate “HiFi” tier to sign up for. The feature is rolling out incrementally to Premium subscribers in over 50 markets, including the US, UK, Australia, and Germany, with the full rollout expected to be completed in October.
To enable lossless audio, you’ll need to manually change your settings on each device:
- Open the Spotify app and tap your profile icon.
- Go to Settings & Privacy.
- Navigate to Media Quality.
- You’ll now see a new “Lossless” option alongside the existing quality settings (Low, Normal, High, and Very High). Select it for Wi-Fi, cellular, or downloads.
You’ll know you’re listening in lossless quality when a special “Lossless” badge appears in the Now Playing view or bar.
