Nobu Hospitality has announced a new luxury development in the Maldives in partnership with Sarat International. Located on the private island of Munyafushi in Laamu Atoll, the project will include a Nobu Hotel, Residences, and Restaurant surrounded by the Indian Ocean.
“The Maldives is a highly sought-after tourist destination that has long interested us for a unique resort concept. Before embarking on this adventure, we envisioned something truly special. As part of the new generation of Maldives hotels, we aim to set a new standard of exclusivity. Our priority is to create a superior island experience rather than a formal approach – an experience where design, world-class gastronomy, and the natural environment coexist harmoniously” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality.
The resort will feature 26 beach villas, 30 overwater villas, and 10 ultra-exclusive Nobu Island Estate Residences—each on its own private island with private yacht access for exceptional privacy and ownership. A Nobu restaurant on a separate private island will serve as the centerpiece, alongside a spa, fitness center, diving facilities, tennis courts, event spaces, and a main pool, all designed with Nobu’s signature Japanese-inspired, contemporary luxury style.
“We are proud to partner with Nobu Hospitality to present a project that redefines luxury living in the Maldives, and equally proud to partner with Sarat Investments on this landmark development. From the outset, our shared vision has been to create a destination that is both rare and deeply connected to its natural environment. Nobu’s hotel, restaurant, and residences represent an unprecedented opportunity – private islands that combine thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and world-class hospitality. We look forward to bringing this extraordinary retreat to life and welcoming discerning owners and guests” said Ali Ahsan, Managing Director of Sarat International.
The centerpiece of the resort is a Nobu restaurant set on its own private island, featuring a bar and lounge and serving Chef Nobu’s signature Japanese-Peruvian cuisine. Additional amenities include a full-service spa, modern fitness center, dive center, tennis courts, event spaces, and a main pool. The design reflects Nobu’s Japanese heritage, with angular architecture and fluid layouts that blend seamlessly with the island’s natural surroundings and ocean views.
