Nothing has introduced two new midrange smartphones, the 4A and 4A Pro, which feature noticeably different designs and Glyph Light interfaces. The 4A Pro stands out as the first Nothing phone to largely move away from the brand’s signature transparent look, instead using a metal unibody with an opaque aluminum back. A small transparent section remains around the camera module, which includes a larger Glyph Matrix display first seen on the Phone 3. The 4A Pro will launch in the US later this month and will be available in black, silver, and soft pink.
Nothing’s decision to move away from its signature transparent design with the 4A Pro is surprising, though the new look largely works and may be more appealing than the divisive design of the Phone 3. While some fans may miss the retro transparent style, those who prefer it can still choose the standard 4A. The 4A keeps the brand’s familiar transparent aesthetic and introduces a new Glyph Bar lighting system for notifications and alerts. It is also available in several colors, including white, black, pink, and a vibrant blue.
The 4A Pro offers several upgrades over the standard 4A, including a slightly larger, brighter, and faster display, a thinner metal design, and a more powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip compared to the 4A’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It also has improved IP65 water resistance and a better main camera, while the telephoto, ultrawide, and selfie cameras remain mostly the same. Both phones share a 5,080mAh battery and will receive three Android OS updates and six years of security patches.
Availability varies by region: both the 4A and 4A Pro are launching in the UK, Europe, and India, but only the 4A Pro will be sold in the US. The 4A starts at $400–450 with preorders open now and a March 13 release. The 4A Pro is priced at $499, with preorders starting March 13 and full release on March 27.
