Peloton Enters AI Race with 'Peloton IQ' and New Cross Training Product Line

Peloton is signaling a major pivot. In its biggest product refresh since the company’s inception, the connected fitness giant has unveiled the Peloton Cross Training Series—a complete overhaul of its hardware lineup—and the introduction of Peloton IQ, a powerful AI-driven personalized coaching system integrated across its entire ecosystem.

This is more than a simple product launch; it’s a strategic move to secure the company’s future by fusing premium hardware with advanced artificial intelligence, cementing its position as a holistic wellness platform.

Peloton IQ: Your New Virtual Coach

The headline feature is undoubtedly Peloton IQ, an intelligent system designed to deliver hyper-personalized training. While its most advanced features are reserved for the new ‘Plus’ models, IQ brings smarts to the entire community:

  • Personalized Plans: Peloton IQ acts as a virtual personal trainer, analyzing your workout history, performance data, and connected third-party wearable data (from Apple Health, Garmin, and Fitbit) to build dynamic, adaptive weekly plans tailored to your goals.
  • Performance Estimates: When browsing the massive class library, the AI will provide personalized output estimates and insights—such as “Harder than your usual”—to help you select the most effective workout for your current fitness level.
  • Form Feedback and Rep Counting (Plus Models): On the new Cross Training Bike+, Tread+, and Row+, a built-in Movement-Tracking Camera utilizes computer vision to monitor your form in real-time, count your reps, and even suggest appropriate weight adjustments to ensure you’re lifting safely and effectively. At launch, the system is capable of tracking over 120 movements and providing feedback on more than 50 strength exercises.

The Cross Training Series: One Machine, Total Fitness

Peloton is unifying its hardware under the banner of the Cross Training Series, delivering on a member request that unlocks the platform’s full potential: a swiveling screen is now standard across every single machine (Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread, and Row+).

The ability to seamlessly pivot the screen 360 degrees on the Bikes and Treads instantly transforms the equipment from a cardio device into a dedicated station for strength, yoga, Pilates, and mobility work. This simple, yet powerful, change effectively doubles the value of the hardware.

The Total Wellness Push

The announcement also featured several strategic moves that expand Peloton’s focus beyond pure fitness:

  1. Strategic Partnerships: Collaborations with the Hospital for Special Surgery (for injury prevention content) and Halle Berry’s Respin Health (for an eight-week program focused on menopause support) signal a move toward addressing broader, long-term health needs.
  2. App Acquisition: Peloton has acquired the popular breathing exercise app Breathwrk, folding its features into the membership for stress reduction and focus.

The Trade-Off: Increased Investment

To fund this new era of innovation, Peloton has announced its first hardware and membership price increases in years. The All-Access Membership is rising from $44 to $49.99 per month, and the price of the hardware is also seeing an increase (e.g., the Cross Training Bike+ is now $2,695, up from its previous price).

While the price hike is notable, the company is betting that the combination of its redesigned hardware, the enhanced versatility for cross-training, and the personalized power of Peloton IQ will justify the increased investment, reigniting subscriber growth and reinforcing the value proposition for its millions of loyal members.
