YouTube Unveils Next-Gen AI Tools, Studio Upgrades, and Live Innovations at Made on YouTube

YouTube’s annual “Made on YouTube” event once again demonstrated the platform’s commitment to empowering creators with groundbreaking new tools. This year’s announcements, a powerful mix of next-generation AI, significant upgrades to YouTube Studio, and a suite of innovative live streaming features, are set to transform the way creators make, manage, and monetize their content. Here’s a look at the most impactful announcements from the event.

The AI Revolution for Creators

Artificial intelligence was at the forefront of the new features, with YouTube leaning into generative AI to make content creation more playful and efficient.

  • Veo in Shorts: YouTube is integrating a customized version of Google DeepMind’s powerful video generation model, Veo 3 Fast, directly into YouTube Shorts. Creators can now generate high-quality video clips with sound from simple text prompts, opening up a new world of creative possibilities. The new features also allow for animating still images, restyling video clips, and adding objects to scenes with just a few taps.
  • “Edit with AI”: Starting a video from scratch can be daunting. “Edit with AI” is a new feature that takes the initial heavy lifting off creators’ shoulders. It intelligently analyzes raw camera roll footage, arranges the best moments, and automatically adds music, transitions, and even a playful voiceover to create a compelling first draft.
  • Speech to Song: A truly unique and fun new tool, “Speech to Song” lets creators remix a line of dialogue from an eligible video into a catchy soundtrack for a Short. This feature, powered by Google DeepMind’s Lyria 2, lets creators quickly turn a memorable quote into a musical trend.

A Smarter YouTube Studio

YouTube Studio, the creator’s central hub, is getting a massive upgrade with new AI-powered features designed to be a true creative partner.

  • Ask Studio: Imagine a conversational AI that knows your channel inside and out. That’s the vision for Ask Studio. This new tool provides personalized and actionable strategic insights based on a creator’s channel, community, and analytics. Creators can ask questions like, “How is my last video performing?” or “What is my community saying about my editing style?” to get quick, data-driven answers.
  • Title A/B Testing: A/B testing for thumbnails has been a game-changer for many creators, and now YouTube is expanding this feature to titles. Creators can test and compare up to three different titles and thumbnails per video to see which combination performs best with their audience.
  • Collaboration Tools: YouTube is making it easier than ever for creators to work together. A new collaboration feature allows up to five creators to be added to a single video, which will then be shown to all of the participating creators’ audiences. This is a powerful new way to introduce channels to new viewers and grow communities.

The Biggest Upgrade to Live Streaming Yet

For live creators, the announcements represent the largest upgrade to the platform’s live tools to date, designed to make live streaming more accessible, engaging, and profitable.

  • Simultaneous Horizontal and Vertical Streaming: In a significant move to cater to all viewers, creators will soon be able to stream simultaneously in both horizontal and vertical formats. This means viewers on a desktop or TV can enjoy a traditional full-screen experience, while those on mobile can watch in a vertical format, all with a unified live chat.
  • AI-Powered Livestream Highlights: To help creators repurpose their live content, a new AI-powered feature will automatically identify the most engaging moments from a livestream and turn them into ready-to-share Shorts. This is a huge time-saver and a great way to attract new audiences who may have missed the live event.
  • Non-Intrusive Monetization: YouTube is addressing a common concern for live streamers with the introduction of “side-by-side ads.” These new ad formats will run alongside the content, allowing viewers to continue watching the stream without interruption. This offers a less disruptive way for creators to earn revenue while maintaining audience retention.
  • Rehearsal Mode: To ease the stress of going live, YouTube is rolling out a “rehearsal mode” that allows creators to practice their setup and test everything—from audio levels to new features—in a private, no-pressure environment before broadcasting to the world.

These updates signal YouTube’s ongoing evolution as the ultimate platform for creators. By placing powerful AI in the hands of creators, enhancing the tools they use every day, and revolutionizing the live experience, YouTube is not just keeping up with the trends—it’s shaping the future of entertainment.
