Google has launched an upgraded Gemini 3.1 Pro (preview) across all plans — Free, Plus, Pro, and Ultra — with the Gemini app’s model selector now reflecting the update. It’s also available in NotebookLM. Gemini 3 sets a new benchmark in AI performance, delivering more helpful, concise and better-formatted responses. Beyond improved outputs, the overall experience is smarter, making it the strongest model yet for vibe coding and building richer apps in Canvas. It also leads in multimodal understanding, handling tasks like analyzing photos of homework or transcribing lecture notes with ease. Gemini 3 Pro is rolling out globally and can be accessed by selecting “Thinking” in the model selector. Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers receive higher usage limits, and U.S. college students can continue to access Google AI Pro free for a year, including Gemini 3.
The Gemini app has been redesigned with a clean, modern interface that makes starting chats easier and organizing content simpler through a new “My Stuff” folder for images, videos and reports. The shopping experience has also been significantly enhanced, with product listings, comparison tables and pricing pulled directly from Google’s Shopping Graph, which features over 50 billion products.
Looking ahead, Gemini 3 introduces “generative interfaces,” powered by its advanced reasoning and multimodal capabilities. Early experiments like Visual Layout and Dynamic View create interactive, model-generated interfaces on demand — such as an immersive, magazine-style itinerary when planning a trip — making results more engaging and customizable.
Gemini Agent is an experimental feature that completes multi-step tasks directly within Gemini. It integrates with Google apps to manage your Calendar, set reminders, and organize your inbox by prioritizing tasks and drafting replies for approval. It can also handle detailed requests — such as researching and booking a mid-size SUV under a set budget — by pulling relevant information from your emails, comparing options, and preparing the booking.
