The 2027 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Hybrid debuts alongside the updated GLE-Class, offering significantly more power—approaching the previous V8-powered GLE 63. It features a sportier design, upgraded suspension, and a redesigned interior with three screens. Available as both a standard SUV and a coupe-style SUV, it represents a major all-around improvement in performance, technology, and styling.
The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 gets a bolder, more aggressive look with updated headlights, grille, and taillights, including a larger AMG-specific grille. At the rear, it features GLE 53 badging, new taillights with a Mercedes star design, and four rounded tailpipes.

The interior of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 has been completely redesigned with a cleaner look, featuring smaller air vents and a three-screen MBUX Superscreen setup. It offers premium leather options, including Manufaktur Nappa finishes, and a new AMG Performance steering wheel with improved controls. The latest MB.OS system adds high-resolution displays with AMG-specific graphics, creating a more sporty and upscale cabin feel.
The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 sees major performance upgrades over the previous mild-hybrid model. Its improved 3.0L six-cylinder engine, paired with a 181-hp electric motor, now makes 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque—close to the old GLE 63. It accelerates from 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds, is quicker than before, and can drive on electric power alone up to 87 mph. The new plug-in hybrid system supports fast charging, and standard features include all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 gains enhanced driving dynamics with a new AMG Ride Control+ air suspension that adjusts for comfort or performance, along with updated stability control and a smarter 4Matic+ AWD system for better traction. Multiple drive modes—including Comfort, Sport, Trail, and Electric—let drivers customize steering, suspension, and power delivery, with additional settings to preserve battery charge.
Mercedes-AMG’s CEO emphasized that the new GLE 53 delivers more power, stronger styling, enhanced digital features, and a true AMG driving experience, with its long-range plug-in hybrid setup. While electric range and pricing haven’t been announced yet, they’re expected closer to its U.S. launch in late 2026, and the upgraded model will likely cost over $100,000.

Mercedes-AMG’s updated “53” models have evolved from a step below the 63 lineup to delivering near-V8 performance thanks to new plug-in hybrid systems. This shift allows AMG to push future 63 models even further. However, it remains to be seen if the added weight from hybridization affects driving performance, which will be determined after real-world testing.
