Audi RS 5 Goes Hybrid: 630 HP Signals a Bold New Era of Plug-In Performance

The new RS 5 marks a milestone for Audi Sport as its first high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV), blending authentic RS DNA with advanced hybrid technology. Whether attacking mountain roads, devouring long highway stretches, or cruising silently through the city on electric power, the RS 5 adapts effortlessly. Its breadth of capability spans from refined daily driver to uncompromising performance machine.

For the first time in Audi Sport history, the powertrain combines a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 375 kW (510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor. Complementing this setup is a bespoke RS sport suspension with twin-valve dampers and an entirely new quattro system with Dynamic Torque Control, introducing electromechanical torque vectoring at the rear as a world first.

A newly developed center differential features preloading to remain partially locked at all times, precisely managing front-to-rear torque distribution. At the rear axle, a new differential can apportion torque between the wheels within milliseconds. The result is a driving experience defined by sharp agility, remarkable composure, and effortless precision.

The Audi RS 5 combines a long wheelbase, wide stance, and low-slung body to create a poised, ready-to-pounce appearance. Its coupé-like sedan silhouette blends style and practicality, with a shallow rear window integrated into the trunk lid to improve loading access while maintaining a sleek ducktail profile.

True to RS tradition, the body is widened by four centimeters at both the front and rear compared to the A5. A bold Singleframe grille with a three-dimensional honeycomb pattern dominates the front, flanked by functional air curtains and prominent vents. Muscular wheel arches pay tribute to the legendary Audi Ur-quattro, reinforcing the model’s RS heritage.

At the rear, a sculpted diffuser with vertical fins enhances aerodynamics, while centrally mounted matte oval tailpipes and an all-new variable-valve exhaust system deliver a distinctive soundtrack. A vertical red reflector in the diffuser nods to the RS 5’s motorsport roots.

The all-new RS 5 interior delivers unmistakable Audi Sport character, blending high-performance design with everyday comfort. Sport seats plus with honeycomb quilting provide strong lateral support, electric adjustment, and standard massage functionality for long-distance ease.

Five distinct interior themes are available, each with unique materials and colors, unified by RS-specific details such as color-matched seat belts, RS-branded floor mats, and a black headliner. A leather-free option features sustainable materials like Cascade cloth and Dinamica microfiber, both incorporating recycled content. Alternatively, customers can choose red or gray leather interiors with climate-controlled sport seats and contrast stitching throughout.

The flat-bottom RS steering wheel is wrapped in perforated Nappa leather with a color-coded 12 o’clock marker and integrated RS controls for drive modes and boost activation. A dynamic red-accent package adds a darker, more aggressive Dinamica finish across key cabin elements.

Dark metallic vanadium highlights and exclusive RS touches—such as illuminated seat frame trim with RS logos—enhance the sporty ambiance. Buyers can further personalize the cabin with premium inlays including carbon micro twill, matte brushed aluminum, or exclusive black-lacquered aluminum rhombus trim.
