Fox Nation, the subscription streaming service from Fox News Media, is making a bold move into the true-crime genre by partnering with entertainment mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The collaboration, which might seem unexpected to some, is a strategic play by both parties to expand their reach and create compelling new content.
Known for his work as a rapper, actor, and the creative force behind the hit series ‘Power,’ 50 Cent has cemented his reputation as a formidable force in television. His company, G-Unit Film & Television, has a proven track record of delivering gritty, authentic, and popular programming.
For Fox Nation, which has a catalog that typically leans into lifestyle, documentary, and political content, the partnership with a figure like 50 Cent is a major step. It signals a push to diversify its offerings and tap into the hugely popular true-crime market. The deal, which was announced by Fox News Media’s Chief Digital Officer Jason Klarman, highlights the network’s belief that 50 Cent’s “distinctive voice and perspective” will resonate with a broad audience.
The new project is a six-part true-crime series titled ’50 Ways to Catch a Killer.’ Hosted and executive produced by 50 Cent himself, the show promises to take viewers on a deep dive into real-life murder mysteries. Each episode will focus on a different case, hand-picked by 50 Cent, that was solved through a unique or pivotal investigative technique.
According to a press release, the series will offer “unprecedented access” into the step-by-step process of solving a case, from the first clue to the moment of a breakthrough. 50 Cent will guide viewers through the twists and turns, showcasing everything from cutting-edge forensics to old-school detective work.
In a statement, 50 Cent explained his personal connection to the genre, saying, “True crime is powerful because it’s real cases, real people, and real justice.” He added that he wants viewers to “experience the intensity of these investigations and the relentless work it takes to uncover the truth.”
The series is set to premiere on Fox Nation on September 16th, with two new episodes rolling out each week. The first episode, titled “Fake ’em Out,” will delve into the case of Laura Wallen, a Maryland teacher who vanished just before the start of a new school year.
