Kodak's New Charmera is a Digital Camera You Can Carry Anywhere

The Charmera is a modern-day tribute to the classic Kodak Fling, a single-use camera from 1987. It’s a throwback to a time when taking photos was about capturing a moment without overthinking the technical details. But instead of 110-film cartridges, the Charmera uses a microSD card (up to 128GB, sold separately) to store your shots. This means you can snap away to your heart’s content without worrying about running out of film.

And the photos themselves? They’re intentionally “lo-fi.” With a 1.6-megapixel sensor, a 35mm f/2.4 lens, and a 1440×1080 resolution, the Charmera produces images that are grainy and imperfect, just like the vintage film photos it’s inspired by. But that’s the whole point. It’s not about achieving a perfect, high-resolution shot. It’s about the creative fun of it, with features like four different frames and seven unique filters—including black and white, warm tone, and cool tone—to give your photos an authentic retro vibe. You can even add a date stamp for the ultimate throwback look.

What makes the Charmera so compelling is its portability and its price. Weighing just over an ounce and measuring just 2.3 x 1 x 0.8 inches, it’s designed to be a permanent fixture on your keychain or backpack. This means you’ll always have a camera ready to go, whether you’re at a party, exploring a new city, or just want to quickly capture a funny moment. Plus, at just $30, it’s an affordable way to get into the world of creative, low-stress photography.

As an added touch of fun and collectibility, the Charmera is sold in blind boxes. There are seven different designs inspired by Kodak’s classic look from the late 80s, including a rare, translucent “secret edition” that’s harder to find. The element of surprise makes it a great gift or a fun item to collect with friends.

The Kodak Charmera isn’t trying to replace your smartphone camera. It’s a different kind of tool—one that encourages you to step back from the pursuit of perfect images and instead, embrace the simple joy of capturing a moment. With its retro charm, easy-to-use design, and affordable price point, the Charmera is more than just a camera; it’s a conversation starter, a creative outlet, and the perfect way to bring a little bit of analog fun into a digital world.
