The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 4MATIC+: The Inline-Six Returns to Redefine the Performance SUV

Mercedes-AMG has officially unveiled the new GLC 53 4MATIC+, signaling a significant shift in the brand’s performance strategy. Just as enthusiasts were beginning to mourn the loss of larger displacements, AMG has replaced the previous 2.0-liter four-cylinder setup with a comprehensively redeveloped 3.0-liter inline-six engine.

The extensively revised turbocharged inline six receives a new cylinder head with optimized intake and exhaust ports, a new intake camshaft, a higher-volume intake system, and a new intercooler. These updates sharpen throttle response and improve torque delivery across the rev range, resulting in stronger, more agile acceleration.

With RACE START (part of the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package), the GLC 53 accelerates from 0–60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, or 167 mph with the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package.

For heightened performance, the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package adds the electronically controlled rear differential, RACE drive program with Drift Mode, active engine mounts, microfiber AMG Performance steering wheel with DRIVE UNIT controls, and red AMG brake calipers.

Available exclusively for model year 2027, the Golden Accents Package pairs Obsidian Black Metallic or Graphite Grey Magno paint with striking techgold design elements and subtle AMG graphics.

Highlights include:

  • 21-inch AMG forged cross-spoke wheels in matte black with techgold rim flanges
  • Black brake calipers with white AMG branding
  • Silver chrome AMG fuel filler cap
  • High-gloss black exterior accents via the AMG Night Package
  • Black chrome detailing through AMG Night Package Plus
  • Additional visual enhancements include a larger front splitter, high-gloss black diffuser blade, AMG spoiler lip, and aerodynamic detailing.

Inside, AMG sports seats in black leather feature techgold-matched contrast stitching, complemented by matching accents on the dashboard and door panels. AMG carbon fiber trim woven with techgold metallic threads and illuminated AMG door sills underscore the exclusive character of this special edition.
