Waymo is accelerating the rollout of its fully autonomous ride-hailing service, expanding to four major U.S. cities — Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando. This marks its first simultaneous multi-city launch, boosting its commercial reach to 10 metro areas nationwide and strengthening its presence in key mobility hubs across Texas and Florida.
Existing app users will receive phased invitations ahead of a wider public release later this year. As the only company operating a large-scale, fully driverless service across multiple complex U.S. cities, Waymo expects to deliver over one million autonomous rides per week by year’s end and expand to more than 20 cities.
City and business leaders in Texas and Florida are welcoming Waymo’s launch, citing its potential to boost innovation, economic growth, and mobility. Dallas officials highlighted innovation and safety, while Orlando leaders framed the service as a step toward world-class transportation. Houston representatives noted its value during major upcoming events like the World Baseball Classic and the FIFA World Cup, and San Antonio business leaders said the expansion underscores confidence in the city’s workforce, infrastructure, and economic future.
Waymo has driven over 200 million fully autonomous miles, showing a 10× reduction in serious injury crashes and a 12× reduction in pedestrian injuries compared to human drivers, based on 127 million miles of company data. Its expansion into Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando highlights its leadership in driverless mobility and signals that large-scale autonomous ride-hailing is becoming more mainstream.
