Dodge has launched the 2026 Charger R/T, an entry-level addition to the eighth-generation Charger lineup powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six Sixpack standard-output engine producing 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. The model is priced from US$49,995 and is available to order now in two- and four-door configurations, with vehicles expected at dealerships before the end of the current quarter.
Compared with the outgoing 5.7-litre Hemi-powered Charger R/T, the new model adds 50 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque, reducing the 0–60 mph time by 0.5 seconds to 4.6 seconds and the quarter-mile time by 0.6 seconds to 12.9 seconds. Dodge says the R/T delivers a combined fuel economy of 23 mpg.
Standard all-wheel drive includes an on-demand rear-wheel-drive mode, and the Sixpack engine produces full peak torque at 2,500 rpm. An optional Performance Handling Group adds Launch Control, Line Lock, Brembo six-piston front calipers and a custom drive mode.
The R/T joins the 550-horsepower Sixpack-powered Scat Pack and the all-electric 670-horsepower Charger Daytona Scat Pack in the 2026 lineup, which Dodge positions as the only four-door muscle car range in production. The four-door configuration carries a US$2,000 premium over the two-door.
“The new Charger R/T significantly outperforms the previous 5.7-litre Hemi Charger R/T: it’s quicker, faster and more capable,” Matt McAlear, Chief Executive of Dodge, said.
